Great read

The Runaway Princess Hester Browne

The Runaway Princess Hester Browne

What I love about Hester Browne is that her books have a sweetness and gentleness to them, but the characters aren't one-dimensional. You get drawn in and held in her world and you don't want to surface. I read "The Runaway Princess" in two days and I only took that long because work got in the way (darn work! Always interfering with my reading!!).
I loved Amy- I think we can all empathize with being in social situations and not knowing what to say and just feeling awkward and wanting to escape to your comfort zone or safe place. I enjoy having a character who is rewarded for being a good person - which is one of the hallmarks of Ms. Browne's stories.
The one thing I must mention is that I kept picturing Rolf as the smarmy boss, Douglas Reynholm, from The IT Crowd...I realize that's not how he was described, but MAN that's who he reminded me of initially and I can't get that mental picture out of my head!!
All-in-all, if you've never read Hester Browne's book, give her a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

A hard working young female career gardener accidentally meets a prince incognito, who rescues a plant for her... this book is a glimpse into two special worlds, with lots of funny dialogue and dramatic situations to boot. I'll read it again and again.

I love Hester Browne's books, and this was no exception: a charming story, written well, with interesting, likeable characters. I read it during a time when I was very stressed, and it was such a pleasure to slip into that world for a few hours. It's a modern fairy tale, sweet and engaging.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading from the first page to the last. I kept thinking about the book when I wasn't reading it. The main characters were believable, with some crazy characters mixed in. I love Hester Browne's modern day spin on romance.

A little slow in the beginning, as well as confusing with the various characters mentioned from the building. However, got much better and it was overall a fun engaging read.
